Rainbow Congratulations

Two Welland Valley riders, Denis Smith and Vic Barnett, made the grid for the UCI masters cyclocross world championship 75+ race yesterday (Friday).  They did extraordinarily well.

Our reporter on the scene (thanks, Austin) said that it was an epic race with Denis pulling the Belgian rider, Lievans Ward, back on the last lap and going on to win. That gave Denis the gold medal and coveted rainbow jersey.  Meanwhile, Vic was awesome to ride his way up the field to claim the bronze medal. And that despite fairly recent knee surgery. Amazing!
