Chronos RT 10-mile Time Trial, from Pete Bell.

Despite the weather forecasts in the week before suggesting rain and thunderstorms, the summer sun shone on the riders taking part in the Chronos RT time trial last Saturday, 24 July.

The race was held on the F2A/10 course, an out and back on the A426 at Cambourne near Cambridge. Although warm and dry, it was a breezy afternoon, with the benefits of a tailwind out offset by a strong headwind after the turning point, creating a tougher second half and finish for riders.

Two Welland Valley CC members took part: Peter Bell and Matt Plews.

Pete first took part in the 2-up TT, paired with Ian Wroblewski of Team Lutterworth Cycle Centre. Historically a popular event, this time Pete & Ian were the only pairing competing, so were guaranteed a win on their first outing together! They completed the course in 21:14.

The individual event then followed, with a field of 122 riders taking part. Matt finished with a time of 22:25, and Pete with a time of 22:33 (a new PB for the distance).

Well done to both of our riders, and thanks go to the Chronos RT team for a well organised and enjoyable event.
