Adam Robinson has sent this report after taking part in the 2nd race of the year in a 3 race series at Darley Moor.

Sunday 25th July was the second race of the year in a 3 race series at Darley Moor, Derby. Hosted by British Masters Cycle Racing.

Conditions looked good for some fast racing. The track was dry and it was warm with no chance of rain. A cross wind this time, which hampered progress on two sides of this triangular course leaving only the finish straight with a tail wind. It was a smaller field leaving nowhere to hide. As things turned out this didn’t dull the average speed of the race.

As the flag dropped the intentions of the riders was apparent from the start, with riders trying to get away testing the legs of the chasing pack.

After a few laps two riders got away but were quickly chased down by the pursuants.

This carried on throughout the race with different riders making moves. Each time the peloton was able to bring them back which made for a harder, more punchy battle than the previous round.

Both myself and Phil had time at the front trying to make a break but were chased down on all occasions.

As happened in the previous race it came down to a sprint for the category places, with Phil taking third place in Cat.D and 5th overall.

Another great race and well done to all competing.
