Not long now until the big event, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you on the start line for this year’s Macmillan Harborough Sportive (tomorrow – Saturday 19th May!).
Fingers crossed, the weather forecast looks really promising.
It’s predicted to be 16 C at 8am, rising to 20 C in the afternoon; with no rain expected and a gentle easterly breeze. In other words – perfect weather for cycling.
A reminder that all riders must start between 8-10am, with the exception of the Family ride, which goes off between 10-11am.
To avoid having huge bunches of riders on the course at the same time, the start will be staggered (groups riding together will, of course, be able to set off en masse).
At the start, there will be teas, coffees and ride-essentials such as bacon rolls available, so don’t forget to bring some cash. And remember, all profits from the catering and the sportive will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Motorists approaching the race HQ at Thorpe Langton are reminded to take extra care as some riders may already be on the course as you arrive.
Finally, don’t forget to collect your course map on Saturday morning. Although all routes are comprehensively signed, the occasionally arrow has been known to go astray overnight. Should you want to check the routes in advance, you can find route maps on the event website:
Good luck and enjoy the ride! And thanks very much for supporting this event.
Best wishes from,
Welland Valley Cycling Club and Macmillan Cancer Support
P.S. Free parking is available at race HQ, but please snuggle up tight to the vehicle next door as we’re expecting a record number of riders this year.
