International Women’s Day Ride

Despite rumours that there might be frocks in evidence, all nine riders wore “normal” cycling kit for the ride that marked International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March. We rode in solidarity with the Afghan women’s cycling team who are exiled from their country of birth.

It was a fairly hilly ride and there was a cold easterly wind but we counted ourselves lucky compared to women in Afghanistan who are not allowed to cycle or even leave their homes without being chaperoned by a male family member.

There’s a club run every Friday morning that leaves The Square in Market Harborough at 9.30am. All club members are most welcome.
