LCXL Round 3

Another great day of veldrijden at Western Park in Leicester for round 3 of the Leicestershire Cyclocross League hosted by Leicestershire Road Club. The photos make it look similar to the previous week’s dry warm summery conditions in Weldon, but the reality was around 15°C cooler and heavy rain in the intervening week led to more typical cyclocross ground conditions – particularly in the woods where the roots kept trying to push your wheels to one side – and the addition of uphill hurdles tested dismounting and remounting skills.

Again there were some great yellow performances. Highlights were 3rd U9 boy for Dan Hardwick, 1st and 3rd U9 girls for Emilia Giles and Sylvia Baxter, 1st U12 girl for Mea Moore, another close 2nd place for Rob Moore in the vet50 men and Ellie Humphreys only being beaten by international cyclocross star, Nikki Brammeier, in the women’s race. Entry is also available on the day.

We will be completing our course set up on Saturday morning if anyone is available to help. The more that pile in to help, the quicker it will be – and if we can get the course ready by 12 ,we can have a cheeky pre-ride before the Whizz Kids use the U9s/U12s part of the course between 13.30 and 15.30. Then there is another opportunity for course inspection after the Whizz Kids have finished.

Then on Sunday we look forward to seeing as many club members racing or spectating as possible. We also ask that any club members who are racing or spectating in the afternoon stay to help dismantle the course if they are able.
