WVCC Autumn Off-Road Ride Schedule

Our off-road ride schedule for the rest of the year is as follows:

Off-road calendar

We have a mixture of longer rides where the average speed is generally 16 – 20 km/h depending on terrain and weather conditions and shorter rides where the pace is likely to be a little slower. Routes will be planned according to ground conditions, if it is wet they’ll stick primarily to gravel and the less-travelled narrow tarmac – so will still have an off-road feel, but when conditions are dry then grassy or even muddy bridleways become accessible. Usually these will be followed by a coffee or a vitamin B recovery drink, if we’re not too mucky.

These will be suitable for all off-road bikes, but we recommend that suitable tyres are fitted for the less grippy months! We also recommend that some form of puncture protection is used off-road such as slime tubes or tubeless tyres + sealant. Please ensure that you bring spares and tools [Ed – a spare inner tube meant I could finish the ride a couple of weeks ago when my tubeless tyre failed to seal after a visit by the puncture fairy carrying a huge splinter], suitable clothing and lights are a must, for safety, but vital if we ride the tunnels or in the afternoon – as we could be losing daylight at the end of the ride, particularly if we’re delayed.

Our off-road WhatsApp group will be used to publish routes and information and to coordinate rides. Please message Adrian Killworth or send an email to offroad@wellandvalleycc.co.uk if you’d like to be added to the group. Also let us know if you would like to lead any rides.

We’ve also included the Mudlarks CX training. This is great fitness and skills training and is open to MTBs as well. Please come and join us.

Our good friends Cats MBC also have MTB rides every Wednesday evening at 18.45, which go ahead throughout the year unless conditions are dangerous – and usually organise a longer ride on a Sunday morning.
