Time Trial Reports

Congratulations to many members on some great time trial results and thank you to Gary Ashwell and Jon Durnin for these reports

VTTA East Mids 25, Sat 3rd June 23

7 of us took on this 25mile TT which is mostly on the A46 dual carriageway near Newark. Warm and Sunny conditions but with a non favourable North easterly wind.

The first 10.36 miles south on the A46 was quick with the tail wind and it was actually quite hard for me to keep over my 250w target as I was easily going fast  We came off the 46 at the Stragglethorpe junction, around the roundabout and up quite a steep slip road back onto the A46 northbound where we were then hit by the head wind! For the next 12 miles or so hard going it was like a brake pad was stuck to a wheel .

I got my head down and concentrated on spinning rather than grinding and actually felt I was doing ok as I passed a few riders on the long climbs we had to endure. I was shocked and so pleased when I hit the 20 in 50 mins, a pb for me. At that point I thought the hour finish would be within my grasp. With about 2 miles to go with came off the 46 and with a tailwind again down the B road which doesn’t have a particularly good surface the finish.

The hour just eluded me in the end but I was so happy with my time of 1.02.37 which is a pb for me by over 3 mins! Back on there next week for the 50 ….Two laps of the same …yikes

Matt Plews was fastest for our club followed by Jon Durnin in a strong field of riders.

Ratae RC 10

WVCC riders raced the first of the Gilmorton summer 10’s organised by our friends Ratae RC.

Quickest WVCC rider was second claim Michael Burke with 23:34. Special mentions for the PBs by Jamie Kershaw (25:14) and Debbie Ward (32:50), both knocking chunks off previous times.
