Armstrong and Hunter cups

A sunny morning in late spring provided good conditions for club championship round 10 on the Kibworth 25 mile course. 18 riders set off at what seemed like the crack of dawn to ensure relatively light traffic. Ride London was the same day and probably reduced numbers. There was strong competition for both the Armstrong (scratch race) and Hunter (handicap race) cups. Phil Rayner retained the Armstrong cup a few seconds slower than last year at 1:01:27, apparently spurred on by the smell of bacon. Matt Plews (1:01:49) was second and Jon Durnin (1:02:29) third.

The Hunter cup was won by Debbie Ward on only her second 25 mile TT, closely followed by John Welsford who brought new legs from Italy.

Fastest woman was Linda Hubbard and fastest road bike was Milly Pinnock

It couldn’t have happened without George who ran sign on and all of the timing,  the marshals who stood on roundabouts  for a couple of hours and Jen Clegg assisted by Mitch James who provided  excellent bacon rolls . Mike Ives’ provided the first class results service – thank you all.
