Spooktacular 100k Halloween Gravel Ride

What’s that we hear? There’s no cyclocross less than 2 hours’ drive away. Why not convert your ‘cross bike into a gravel bike by pumping up the tyres a bit harder and join us for our 100km gravel ride.

Our spooktacular 100k Halloween gravel ride on Sunday 30th October will head out from Harborough at 7.30am (taking advantage of the time change the night before) . It’s going to be fangtastic. You might hear the creak of rusty hinges followed by heavy boot steps in the gravel – when we have to open gates. Fancy dress is optional.

Don’t be a lazy bones, trick or treat yourself.

We are covering new ground this year, heading west to Draycote Water (where a cafe stop is planned at about 60km) via Rugby. The route will take in tarmac, gravel tracks, canal towpaths and cycle paths and some of the better grassy bridleways. The route has been prepared and the far end reccied by Richard Heald. We’re not letting him book the weather this year though after the infamous Long Buckby moonsoon which caused us to run for home after 2/3 of the route last year.

See link to planned route (figure-of-eight – clockwise at the Harborough end) –

We plan to meet at 7.30am at the bridleway sign at the Farndon Fields Farm Shop on Farndon Road, Market Harborough (please don’t park in their car park)– What3Words ///strikers.resting.smile.

This will be an unsupported club ride for WVCC members and friends from other local clubs. It is intended to be suitable for all off-road bikes from ‘cross bikes to gravel and mountain bikes.

Please let us know if you’re coming – ideally through our off-road WhatsApp group – so we can arrange additional ride groups by speed and bike type as appropriate. To be added to our off-road WhatsApp group please message Adrian Killworth or email your mobile number to offroad@wellandvalleycc.co.uk
