Sunday 4th September. The Interclub Hill Climb – just what you’ve been waiting for!
There seems to be a very healthy level of interest in this year’s Interclub Hill Climb Competition which takes place on Sunday 4th so let’s hope we do well.
The competition is run jointly by Rockingham Forest Wheelers, Kettering CC and Welland Valley CC and is awarded to the club whose members score the highest number of points.
Points will be awarded to the fastest 21 riders, 21 points for 1st down to 1 point for 21st place.
Both first claim and second claim riders are eligible to score points for their respective clubs.
Sign on is from 7.30am at the Rockingham Forest Wheelers club house. You probably know where that is but just in case, here’s the address: 11 Ashley Rd, Middleton, LE16 8YP. You don’t need to register for the event, you can just turn up
The first rider will start at 9am.
Make sure you allow enough time to ride from the club house to the bottom of the hill.
Note that the School Games 2022, Inter Regional Road Championship takes place on the same day and is using a circuit around Cranoe, Slawston and Welham. These roads will be closed (the signs say from 8am -4pm I think) and although cyclists may get through if the race isn’t actually running at the time, you’ll need to factor in some extra time.
Like last year, the competition will consist of two ascents of Nevill Holt hill, one from Drayton and one from Medbourne.
Encouraging spectators are welcome!
After the competition you are welcome to return to the club house, watch the Vuelta and enjoy tapas. Alternatively take in the schools road race on the way home.
