Nick Clarke reports on the NCRA road racing action at Old this morning
After nearly two years of no road racing the local NCRA Spring Series started this morning on a bright but very blowy morning.
WVCC had 17 of the 59 riders and with great support from friends, families and some Marshalls from the club, it was a lovely atmosphere at the start.Â
The handicapper was not generous to the early starters this week and the race progressively came together over the first two laps with a number of riders dropped from the main group.Â
After 28 miles of racing a large group arrived at the finish together with a number of WVCC riders involved. The race was won by Elliot Stones of Spalding Cycle Club and WVCC results of note included Phil Rayner (6) Max Hale (7) and Rob Moore (8).  Eleanor Humphries won the prize for first woman and, along with Dominic Switzer, also finished in the lead group.Â
Alex Smith who was also in the lead group, was unfortunately brought down at the finish but reports that he, his bike and his watching mother are all going to be fine.Â
All in all a great mornings racing with great participation and performances from club members and there is another race next week with spaces still available for anyone interested.
Nick Clarke.
Thanks to Jez Switzer and Harriet Evans for the pictures. Â
