Whizz Kids weekend report

Good evening Whizz Kids, it’s a double header report this evening covering Saturday’s Whizz Kids and Sundays LCXL event.  On Saturday Whizz Kids was held on the U-12’s and U-9’s courses that were set and ready for the LCXL races and most of the Whizz Kids present were signed up for the races on Sunday and used the session to get familiar with the course have the prior knowledge.  The session took the riders around the courses and gave them the visibility of the lines and hazards that would be there on Sunday, this was followed by a couple of short races and a sprint from the proposed start through to the finish line.  The races were doubly handicapped by age and ability.  Youngest riders away first and seasoned riders going later.  Mea Moore as an U9 rider managed to beat the likes of Jamie and Jacob and put her in good stead for Sunday and there were some cracking duels among the assembled riders.  Thanks on Saturday to coaches Simon and Ben ably assisted by Ian, to Adrian and the team for creating a cracking course, to the parents, some who came to the session directly from holiday, and to Mrs Craven for the continued use of the grounds.

On to Sunday and there were a good number of Whizz Kids out and showing off their skills.  There were podiums for Charlie for a 3rd in the U9’s boys and a top step for Mea in the U9 girls.  Every other Whizz Kid put in a special effort on the day and really got stuck in and it was really good to see the progress that our current class of riders are making.  Some riders had a more leisurely Saturday with a bit of chat as they raced with the other Whizz Kids , others took the opportunity to walk a bit on Saturday but on Sunday it was race face and hard riding all the way Overall a great day at the races, the only unfortunate thing for me was that I wasn’t able to stay after the U12’s race to see the U-16’s and more.

There’s a couple of weeks off now for Whizz Kids, the next session is on Saturday 13th November at Bruntingthorpe, hope to see you all there for a tarmac based session.
