Calling all hipsters again! Dust down your gravel bikes.
Following the success of our Falling Leaves 100k gravel ride, we’re doing it again exactly 6 month later. On Saturday 17 April we are organising a 100k off-road ride for members and friends from other local clubs. This time we’re heading north east. The route is on gravel and less-travelled tarmac with some mud-free grass sections and features a full circumnavigation of Rutland Water. The route will also be suitable for non-hipsters on cyclocross bikes or MTBs.
See link to the route below (clockwise):
We also have an alternate route which is identical for the first 70km, until leaving Rutland Water for the last time near Lyndon, where the run in avoids some grassy bridleways which could become muddy if it’s wet.
We plan to meet at 8am on the green in Great Bowden. Some form of puncture protection is recommended for our off-road rides such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self-sealing inner tubes.
Note that under BC rules we are permitted to ride in groups of up to 15, as an outdoor organised sporting activity, but when socialising afterwards or at a coffee stop we are still subject to the rule of 6.
Please let us know if you’re coming so we can organise ride groups by bike type and speed.
