Mallory Park Youth League 2020

Please see the updates relating to the Mallory Park Youth league in 2020.  This is an excellent way to get into Road Racing.  The series has been running for a number of years and attracts riders from across the area and has been very well run.

Corona Virus
We are currently planning to run a full league for 2020. We will follow BC guidelines and policy in deciding if events go ahead or have to be cancelled. British Cycling is in turn following the guidance given to them by government and the public health authorities. For more details from British Cycling click here

2020 race programme
Our website is fully up to date with details of our 2020 race programme. Click here to go to our website, or here to download or view the 2020 programme flyer. Events should be live on the BC events system shortly (but a reminder we only do entry on the line so don’t actually use the BC events system for anything other than providing race dates) Our first event is on Tuesday 14th April

Marshals and Volunteers
We need 3-4 marshals each night to ensure the events run safely. Parents or Carers who volunteer to marshal will be given one free ride for their child for every night they volunteer. We need to have a firm commitment beforehand and volunteers need to be available from 6.15pm to about 8pm. Please reply to this email if you are prepared to volunteer with your name, your child’s name and nights you can either marshal on or cannot marshal on. We’d really lke to get cover in place now for at least the first 3 events ( 14/04 @ Mallory, 21/04 @ New College and 28/04 @ Mallory), but will schedule volunteers for any races in the season. Thank you for your support

Entry fees
We’ve run at a small loss for the last 2 years, so this year we think its appropriate to increase our entry fees slightly to get back to break-even

U8 entry fees will be maintained at £7
U10/12 and U14/16 entry fees will be increased to £10

We will also be requesting all riders register with the league which will cost £5. This can either be paid at the first race night or, for new riders who want to try out the racing, when they return for their second event

2021 and beyond
Last year I announced that 2020 will be my last year as Mallory Youth League organiser. We had a great turnout at our AGM with a number of parents present who are committed to ensure the league continues in 2021 and beyond. No detail has been worked out yet, but the commitment is there which is great news
