Spoilt for Competitive Off-Road Choice on 29 December

If you’re looking for a way to burn off the excess turkey and Christmas pud you have a choice of the high intensity of a CX race in round 6 of the Leicestershire CX League at Cattows farm near Coalvile or the slow burn of a 3 hour on and off-road orienteering event hosted by our good friends Cats MTB Club in Loddington (near Kettering).

These are fantastic events where you can be as competitive as you like or just use them as a good way of exploring the area on roads, field roads and bridleways on two wheels. You can take part on any off-road bike, but bike and tyre choice will impact your route planning. The idea is to gain as many points as possible by visiting check points – which will be marked on a map that you’ll be given at the start – points are then deducted if you’re not back within the 3 hour time limit. Some kind of map board attached to your handlebars is extremely useful.
Online entry closes tonight (Christmas Eve). Entry on the day will be available, but please let them know if you’re planning to go so that they can ensure that they print enough maps and plan for enough food for the post-ride buffet.
