Roadrunner on Runway 10

Roadrunner XXIV report. The Roadrunner series of mid-week races moves this year to the smooth flat tarmac of Leicester Airport for the three event series and the first session last Wednesday proved to be a decent opener. The deserted runway made for some good racing although the flypast of the Alicante to East Midlands flight did make us wonder if the pilot was going to disturb the cones, but false alarm. With two age group races operating on the night each group rode five events on the 425m course- a prologue time trial, three races and a sprint to finish the evening. The full results are here Roadrunner XXIV.
There was some good racing over the evening which was accompanied by a cycling and Roadrunner based musical soundtrack – true some choices were a little obscure but the planning worked as the final sprint to the line of the night was accompanied by a clip of Geriant Thomas winning on Alpe d’Huez last year to win the Tour.
Roadrunner XXV will be on August 14th at the same location, Leicester Aero Club with signing on from 6:00pm and first race at 6:45.
