4 club riders tackled a rolling course for the latest round of the Percy Stallard LVRC Road Race series hosted by Stratford CC. In the AB race James Moore’s road race pedigree was on full display, winning a sprint for the line having bridged across to the breakaway group and pipping the incredibly strong and in-form Andy Critchlow.
Bunny secured a 2nd in age group in the EFG race in the afternoon (see his report below) and ‘Flying Phil Raynor’ completed a WVCC 1-2-3 sprinting to 3rd place in the C’s.
Tim Smith was made to walk home after 13th place in the AB race!
Bunny wrote a comprehensive report which is below.
“In the 45 mile race for the more mature riders (age not behaviour) there was plenty of action with a break of 3 going in the second lap up the finish hill, I urged others on to chase but as usual there were only a few riders prepared or able to chase and it looked as though the break, containing two dangerous riders in my age group, would stay away.
Eventually all came together only for an increasing number of riders to try for themselves. The longish hill at the back of the circuit tested my cramping legs on the last lap but I managed to catch up and in the uphill sprint I was able to finish ahead of all my age group except for my nemesis Richard Mc Kellar, Cycle Sense, who was a few seconds up the road surrounded by some younger riders.
Next week from Thursday onwards I change my black steed for my red track bike, competing in BC Masters National Championships at Newport, riding in 4 events”
