The 13th Annual Tour de Welland races took place on a warm and windy* Leicester circuit this afternoon. With tarmac temperatures approaching those in France the assembled Whizz Kids and guests from Leicester Forest Rockets rode a series if races and events timed to coincide with the other Tour starting over in France soon. First up was the prologue 1km time trial followed by Stage 2, a couple of shorter races. There was an interlude of a couple of 60m drag races and some interesting results too. The afternoon concluded with an endurance stage and the finale into Paris was the longest lap sprint.
There was some classic racing Results will follow courtesy of Ian later but some thanks go the the riders from the Rockets, hope you got to grips with riding the “wrong” way around. Thanks to go to Wayne and the staff at New College and to all the riders who continued our tradition and the parents who support them. Thanks to Ben, Simon, Ian and Jade for your help too.
There was some disruption just before the event when the circuit was briefly taken over by some uninvited riders from the local area but disruption was minimal although they could have made some better choices in their language and actions.
Results here (thanks to Ian Mansfield) https://wvwhizzkids.wordpress.com/
We’ll see you soon!
*P.s. It’s always windy at Leicester circuit.
