The 20th Tour De Welland

Hi all,

On Saturday we ran our 20th edition of the Tour De Welland, the whizz kids version of the smaller event happening in France at the moment. To be fair, our version was far more fun and slightly less dominated by one rider!

Along With 13 kids I recruited Kev, Sophie and 2 Richard’s (willing dads) to form 4 teams, Jumbo, Ineos, UAE and Bora.

We did 5 races, a Team TT, a sprint stage, a transition stage, a hill stage and a mountain stage and for a bit of a shake up, keeping score masters Ian and Jade busy, everyone raced together.

The TDW wouldn’t be the same unless we threw in some bonkers activities, so in the scoring mix we had baguette throwing, onion boules and the blue ribbon event – speed portrait painting !

A fantastic afternoon with huge thanks to Kev, Sophie, Ian & Jade, the two Richard’s for competing, parents who managed the course and 4 wonderful portrait models .
