Ride into the sun!

“Ride into the sun ride into the sun
Where everything seems so pretty
But if you’re tired you should have started slower!”

(corrupted from The Velvet Underground)

It was certainly a sunny Sunday for a 25 mile ride to Corby and back.

Round 9 of the club TT championship had an excellent early turnout from WVCC and our friends from RFW and Ratae. Fortunately, the early start meant the temperature remained reasonable.

It seemed a fast day with some course PBs and the large majority of the handicaped times under the hour.

There was strong competition for the Armstrong and Hunter cups, Hans Van Nierop (57:21) was fastest rider and  took the Armstrong cup 39 seconds ahead of James Moore.

The Hunter cup (handicapped times) was won by Julian Twynham (63:41) with a corrected time of 53:11. The fastest woman was Ruby Issac at 64:03 while honours for  fastest road bike went to Jamie Kershaw at 61:27.

Thanks as always to our timekeepers and marshals, the event can’t run without them.  Special thanks to Mike Ives for the processing of results from a bar in Spain!
