Whizz Kids Foxton Incline Hillclimb
Hi Whizz Kids!
We’re back in competitive action on Saturday May 23rd for our annual Hill Climb which is also the next round of the Alden Electrical Whizz Kids Racing League. This event is usually held in August but due to coach availability we’ve brought it forwards a few months. We return to Foxton Locks, and we’ll be racing up the hill on the bridleway to the village and well clear of the canal, boats and most of the people. We are also opening the event to Youth Development riders as well as parents too, if you are up for a challenge.
The event will be run as a time trial, your fastest time of the day will count for league points, there is no limit on the number of attempts on the hill, so if you get slowed by other users of the trail just take a breather, ride to the start and have another go. The course itself is about 450m in length and the vertical height gain is about 20m, Alpe d’Huez it is not.
We meet near the Foxton Locks Lower Carpark, I’ll put out a couple of signs to direct you from the carpark to the bottom of the hill, which is at What3Words ///labs.fenced.preparing. Carpark is pay and display and I believe currently costs £3.50 for 4 hours, but is planned to increase at the end of May.
If you do park at the top of the locks, or cycle in if you are local, then please use the road down to the bottom carpark. Cycling along the towpath adjacent to the locks is prohibited by the Canal and River Trust so Do Not ride here. Meet up from 1:45ish, booking details have been emailed to registered riders, check your mailbox or WhatsApp. Don’t forget your bike, helmet and drinks, forecast is currently quite warm, and first rider away after the course inspection will be just after 2:00pm.
See you on the hill on Saturday.
