Whizz Kids Racing League 2

Hi Whizz Kids, We’re back in action on Saturday afternoon for the next round of the Alden’s Whizz Kids Racing League and we’ll be on the concrete roadways at the back of the Gliding Centre at Husbands Bosworth for a series of shortish races and maybe a time trial to kick things off.  Meet up from 13:45 with briefing and racing starting at 14:00.

For those new to the racing league it is a year-long series within Whizz Kids and throughout the year we’ll be racing a variety of disciplines including bunch racing, cyclo-cross and time trials on different surfaces.  Points are awarded within age and gender groups so there is plenty of opportunities to build up points towards the overall championship and the trophies and awards are presented at our last session of the year in December.

We will be using some of the concrete roadways at the back of the airfield and since the track it is a bit hidden, here’s how to find us.

  • Enter the airfield from Sibbertoft Road, Husbands Bosworth, signed The Gliding Centre
  • Follow the perimeter road for about 568m until you reach some containers on your left side (What3Words///applauded.dreamer.debit and If you haven’t got What3Words on your phone I’d suggest downloading it).  I’ll leave some cones and signs here as a marker.
  • You’ll need to go between the containers to follow the gravel track down past the caravans and through the gate into the field, we’re racing here.

Although we’re on concrete tracks they were laid down about 85 years ago so the surface definitely isn’t snooker table smooth, but hopefully easier that the grass we used for the last round.  Also as Simon is away I might need to press-gang some assistance from parents just to keep things moving

Booking is open now, check your email and WhatsApp for the details and we’ll see you on Saturday, don’t forget your bike, helmet and snacks and we’ll see you there.

Cheers!
