Tour De Welland race report

Hi all,

I am sure if you have been watching the Tour De France you will agree that this edition has been raced with guts and determination, with super human efforts and demonstrations of skill and bravery on every stage. This, however, is nothing compared to the racing we witnessed on Saturday.

Three teams, Ineos, UAE and Jumbo (the latter two even being booed by some partisan parents) lead by Kevin, Sophie and Dave testing over 5 stages, a TT, a sprint stage, a Hilly stage, a mountain top finish and a longer stage.

The final, special stage, won by UAE was a team relay which rewarded the winning team with bragging rights and the chance to pick the cakes from the Whizz Kids Cafe first. This meant being able to pick Clare’s delicious homemade fare instead of B&M bargains.

A huge thanks to Ian, Kevin, Sophie and to Dave as a team captain and Jon who took up a riding role but still didn’t manage to claim a win!
