Playing your Joker

The club awards two trophies at the end of the season for those who have ridden the furthest in organised rides – that’s sportives, audaxes and reliability rides but not club runs – over the course of the year.

The Lee Scampton Trophy and the Vials Trophy were won by Sohphia Gowers and Wayne Holton respectively in 2024 with Sophia riding a very impressive 3187km which we’re pretty sure is a club record.

To encourage participation in events run by the club, club events score double kilometres/miles. So if you rode the reliability ride last week, you’ve got your year off to a flying start.

Roger Knocklebergh has kindly agreed to keep the tally this year so, to take part, please make sure he knows about all your rides by emailing him about once a month: rogerk@doctors.org.uk. Please note that it’s only the distance of the ride itself that counts, unfortunately you can’t count cycling to and from the event.
