World Championships

Many congratulations to Harriet Evans who took part in the UCI gravel world championship in Belgium last weekend. What an achievement,
Here’s what she had to say about it…
A race that didn’t seem to go my way with multiple hiccoughs including hitting the deck, having no water for 20 miles, and mechanicals. However, a “bad day” at my first experience of a world championship, is it really a “bad” day?! To even wear the GB jersey was surreal.
It was the most incredible experience in the home of cycling with crowds all along the course cheering in all different languages, riding with athletes from all over the world and racing a mega course with gravel, cobbles, mud and bike paths.
We fought hard and I finished in 68th place in the age group which I will walk away and I’m proud of. That doesn’t mean I’m not hungry for more.
