A Cycling Competition

Now that the excitement of the Vuelta and the Tour of Britain are about over,  it’s time to look forward to a competition that all Welland Valley members can take part in that’s coming up in just a couple of weeks.

On Sunday 22nd September it’s the Interclub Hill Climb where both the women and the men from our club compete against members of Kettering Cycling Club and Rockingham Forest Wheelers to see who can climb up that hill the fastest. There are two competitions, one for women and one open and actually, although there is prestige to be gained from being the fastest, it’s a team competition and so everybody’s time counts.

The competition is being hosted by Welland Valley this year and the headquarters is at Medbourne village hall, just next door to the Nevil Arms. The hill in question runs from Medbourne up to Nevil Holt  and you may be glad to know that it’s just the one climb, you don’t have to climb from the Drayton side too!

The first rider will be off at 10am and refreshments will be served after the competition back at the village hall. We anticipate that the club rides (for any riders not taking  part) that day will ride out to Medbourne and line the route to encourage all the climbers.

You can sign up to take part here:Welland Valley Cycling Club: Club TT Championship Sign-up (signupgenius.com). Remember you must wear a helmet and have front and back lights if you riding. The entry fee is £5 per person payable on the day by card please.
