Hot night at Hallaton! (Well, a bit cold and soggy…. but quick…)

Cool, drizzly conditions but almost no wind met competitors in our 5 last night and times were rapid.

Maciej Suchocki scored a great course PB to finish second and gives us his story below:

I’ve been a proud WVCC member since June 2021 and I really like TT events organised by the club. Great atmosphere, great courses and delicious cakes   😉

I couldn’t really make the  progress I wanted  for the last two years – however before the current season I started working with club coach Simon Ward who made a massive difference with my foundation work, weekly training plans and race preparation.

The weather forecast for Tuesday night wasn’t too bad, quite warm with light showers and a favourable wind. The Hallaton 5 Mile is one of my favourite courses but I made mistakes the last time I raced it. I started way too fast and my “tank” was empty just before final climb to Tur Langton.

I collected my number from HQ, signed on and started my warm up (275w ride to the start line advised by Simon).

My start time was around 8pm, weather as forecast. I managed to keep good power all the way to Tur Langton, and even saved a bit for the final climb.

I finished 2nd with 10:51 which is my new course PB. I’m really happy with this result – hard work with Simon is paying off. Can’t wait for Kibworth 10 next Tuesday, I’m hoping for another PB    😉.

Thanks Maciej – another Simon Ward assisted PB to add to the regular series on these pages!

Hans Van Nierop was quickest with 10.31, Richard kendrick was fastest roadbike and Milly Pinnock fastest woman.

Congratulations to all and thanks again to all who help make these events happen.
