Youth Development Funding

Youth Development Programme 2024

 Welland Valley CC  are committed  to helping young riders to develop their skills and make progress within the sport. To this end the Club is continuing the Youth Development Programme into 2024 and applications for next year are now invited. Previous applicants are very welcome to reapply.

WVCC has established a relationship with the Bryan Steel Youth Academy, and provides 50% of the funding required to join the Academy. These applications are intended to support riders in working with  Bryan Steel Cycling  but the club is also very receptive to reasonable alternatives.

The Bryan Steel Youth Cycling Academy supports talented young riders within the East Midlands and their parents. It aims to achieve their full potential through coaching, mentoring, training rides and an education program. The Academy works to develop a pathway for  young, talented, male and female riders using  monthly group sessions for riders and parents before  they return to their clubs.

To apply, young riders need to be a first claim member of Welland Valley Cycling Club and;

  • Submit their cycling CV; with
  • Either a covering letter or a short vlog demonstrating their commitment and setting out why they should be supported, and;
  • A supporting letter from a parent or guardian.

To benefit from this support, riders should be juveniles (12-16) or juniors (17/18) as defined by the WVCC Club Calendar.

The deadline for applications is 31st December 2023, and applications should be sent to Club Secretary Stuart Dawkins by email (secretary@wellandvalleycc.co.uk).
