Members’ Commitment

(all members aged 18 and over)

Every senior member should expect to marshal at least one club event.  Members who regularly participate in competitive events are also expected to marshal an additional event, making a minimum of two in total.  Members are also asked to be available for other roles required for the various events the club organises throughout the year.

Special Rules for Club Time Trials

In the interests of both safety and the smooth running of events, the following specific rules will be rigidly enforced:

  • All: riders must wear an approved hard shell helmet.
  • All riders must use a bright red rear light for every event.

Additionally, under penalty of exclusion, no rider shall:

  • When warming up, pass by the start line once the event is under way.
  • Perform a U-turn in sight of start or finish.
  • Return to the timekeeper to enquire of his/her time whilst the event is in progress.

Riders under 16 years of age may be accompanied by an adult, subject to conditions which will be clearly displayed at each race headquarters and on the club website.

Cycling Time Trials (CTT) has made the use of a bright red rear light compulsory for all time trials.  Our time trials are run under CTT rules and so the use of rear lights will be compulsory for all our time trials.

Riders under 16 years of age may be accompanied by an adult, subject to conditions which will be clearly displayed at each race headquarters and on the club website.

Age Categories for Club Events

Veteran – A rider becomes a veteran on January 1st of the year of her/his 50th birthday.  In subsequent years the rider’s standard times will be the same throughout the season and will accord with the age attained that year.

Junior – A junior rider is a junior from January 1st of the year of her/his 17th birthday until December 31st of the year of his/her 18th birthday

Juvenile – A juvenile rider is a juvenile from his/her 12th birthday until December 31 of the year of her/his 16th birthday.

Club kit

Club kit is ordered directly from the provider, Vanelli Cycling, which is run by Club member Hans van Nierop.  Kit is available on a number of occasions each year.  Details of how to obtain kit can be obtained from Hans on kit@wellandvalley.co.uk
