Whizz Kids update – Roadrunner 50 and the Hill-Climb
Hi Whizz Kids,
We’re back in action on Saturday afternoon August 12th for the next round of the Whizz Kids Racing League which will be the Hill-climb at Foxton. We’ll be using the same course as previous years which is the Bridle path from the wharf up to Foxton Village and riders will have the opportunity to ride as many attempts up the hill as time allows, the format is quite simple, one rider against the stopwatch, bottom of the hill to the top and the fastest time counts towards the league points. First rider will be away just after 2:00pm and we’ll keep going for a maximum of 75 Minutes, so plenty of time for a fast ride.
There are a couple of things to note. Parking is pay and display so come prepared with card and cash just in case the machines are not working properly. There are facilities at the bottom lock carpark but if you end up parking at the top lock please allow time to get down to the start. Also please remember that riding down the towpath alongside the locks is not permitted, you’ll have to use the road down to the bottom, or walk down on the towpath. Foxton in the summer can be very popular. Lets hope it’s cooler than last year when we hit 35 degrees.
Directions: the Foxton bottom carpark is at What3Words: ///cheater.permanent.scam and the start will be at What3Words: ///chairing.printouts.digit just follow the yellow cones from the car park.

Roadrunner 50, our half century took place last Thursday at Mallory Park and we’ve had an excellent series so far with some cracking racing and we have one more race to go on August 17th. The most competitive racing took place on the drag strip where our riders have been chipping away at the fastest run record which is now around 17½ seconds for the 175m drag. That works out to somewhere close to 36km/hr, 22 Mph. Will it be beaten – time will tell.
