Whizz Kids and the Worlds Slowest Club Run

Good evening Whizz Kids. It’s Carnival Time..also known as the “Worlds slowest club run!”
Whizz Kids have ridden the Market Harborough carnival procession for many years, longer than most Whizz Kids have been around. We would like as many riders as possible to take part to show off the club this Saturday 10th June for a very sedate, hour long, 2 mile ride around the town. The roads will be closed to traffic so it’s a great chance to ride in front of large crowds on the streets of Market Harborough, perhaps a taste of what it’s like to finish a major race in years to come. Parents and Senior club members are also welcome to ride with us and even the youngest riders will be slow enough for parents to walk alongside.
It’s an earlier start than normal as we’ll be meeting on Burnmill Road (the road up to Robert Smythe School) between 11:00 and 11:15am on Saturday morning ready for the parade to start spot on 11:30. All being well we’ll finish about an hour later and our finish rendezvous point is outside of St Mary’s chippy on St Marys Road (opposite the entrance to Symington’s rec). I’ve been informed that we’ll be riding near to the front of the procession which coincides with The Great Big Green Week – a national celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature and we can’t get much greener than riding bicycles. I’ll be at the meeting point early as usual and holding our space so just keep a lookout for me. Finally there is no traffic allowed onto Burnmill road for safety reasons so you’ll need to park up and walk to the start, and away from the finish at the end. Please wear Whizz Kids / club kit if possible and don’t forget your bike, helmet and drink.
See you on Saturday morning!
