Whizz Kids, That’ll do!

Sometimes after a Whizz Kids session I have a good think about what could be done better, other times I smile, fold my arms and in a Yorkshire style say “That’ll do” and today was one of those days. Sunshine always helps as does dry ground and we has both at Welland Park today. With a natural split in riders age and ability we ran two coaching zones today, the older multi geared riders getting to grips with a twisty technical courses working on gears and braking and with the introduction of the log rolls had to accommodate different surfaces too. The younger riders had their first excursion onto grass this year on the oval and it’s fair to say some were not impressed with the surface to begin with but happy to report that all riders got stuck in working in the long (and progressively longer and twistier) ride the line and slalom and every single rider came away better than they had started the afternoon. Thanks today go to Ali, Ian, Jade and Simon for leading and to the parents who also got stuck in encouraging our riders. A massive welcome to our newest recruits too. The next session is in three weeks on May 13th which should be the Brampton Valley Way Time Trial, however I haven’t had final approval from whichever Northamptonshire council now runs the trail so watch this space. Whatever you are doing in the next few weeks have fun, I’ll be out on my bike a bit more after dropping down to Neil at George Hall’s Cycle Centre for a new set of tyres for the road bike. See you soon, Kev.
