Accredited Marshals?
Nine Welland Valley club members have just qualified as accredited marshals – well actually they’re not fully accredited until they’ve been supervised at 5 races, but they’ve passed the course and are well on their way.
British Cycling accredited marshals have the authority to stop traffic and so make road races safer for all concerned.
The course was held at Bruntingthorpe and involved participants wielding 90cm diameter signs in strong winds to stop cars, whilst trying to simultaneously use a race radio. It was fun but cold! They also learnt how to deal with motorists who may be truculent (surely that never happens!) and more about how races are organised. It was an interesting and worthwhile day. Thank you and well done to all who participated. We hope to see you in action soon.
