The Club needs volunteers to make road racing happen

2022 saw a resurgence in road racing activity at the Club, the NCRA series of races saw 17 riders or more from WVCC out of the 60 in each field and numbers at the chain gang training rides were higher still.

In order for that boom to continue – indeed in order for road races to continue at all – more suitably trained volunteer Marshals are needed.  Central Region of British Cycling – where most WVCC road races take place – now require all Marshals to have
completed Accredited Marshal Scheme (AMS) training.  This is a short training process resulting in Marshals who are legally allowed to stop traffic.

There is, however, a shortage of trained Marshalls, a situation that sadly led to the
cancellation of WVCC’s round of the NCRA races in March.

WVCC, with the generous co-operation of Cox Automotive, has enabled British Cycling to run another AMS training course on our patch – at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground.  This will take place in the afternoon of Saturday 25 February 2023.
Please register to take part in this course and become part of a pool of volunteers who will enable road racing to continue in our area.
The link to register is: Coaching Course – British Cycling

There is no cost to attend the course. Information about the role and the training pathway is on this video What it means to be a British Cycling accredited marshal – YouTube and further described in this accompanying information: Road marshals and the British Cycling accredited marshal scheme
