Denis Smith reports on the CX at Ancaster
I flew the flag for the club at Ancaster cx coming third in the 60+ age group, I was 38th from a field consisting of 63 riders of 40+ 50+ And 60+, I was able to get a mid field start but we were off and running at the first pinch point a two part climb onto a perimeter bank which when on top we rode to the end, it was mainly a ticky tape course round a sports pitch with a perimeter bank, which included the usual technical
Handicaps, double boards a sand pit a series of undulations, so an enjoyable trip out, I was lying second until the last lap when Michael McDermot caught me and powered away, I wasn’t able to respond but thought he might have to pay for his effort but he was able to sustain it and pushed me into third place.
