Four Females in the Flatlands
Our ride to Skegness was planned with a sunny day in mind and a tailwind. The reality was heavy rain to start and a headwind! Undetered we set off as Judith claimed it wasn’t actually raining in Lincolnshire.

The rain subsided after our first break at a delicious cafe in classy Stamford and we then headed to Boston, braving treacherous train crossings of which there were many, until we reached Boston and the next stop at a delightful Polish artisan bakery.

After refuelling, the finally leg beckoned and the four yellow jerseys set off, with wind from all directions, on the never ending ruler straight road towards Skegness. Sightings of herons, mallards and cormorants made this stretch more interesting (!) and it was with jubilation, 90 miles later, that we finally saw the signs for Skegness.
Cycling through the delights of the pleasure beach towards our final stop which was fish and chips on the beach, a well deserved joy, was then followed by a dash to the station where EMR very kindly allowed all our bikes on the train.
This final stage of the day involved three very tired cyclists and Judith, all still managing to talk and tentatively discuss the next Grand Day Out…!!
Many thanks to Jane and Judith for plannng the day which Alison and I thoroughly enjoyed.
