Very Steady Sunday Summer Special

Get your diaries out and note down the date – Sunday August 14th.
There won’t be an “ordinary” very steady club run that day, instead you are invited to join me on an Expedition to Pitsford Reservoir.

It’s a roughly 30 mile (50km) ride to the reservoir along the Brampton Valley Way. Because the route is largely along a disused railway line, it’s almost flat. There’s just one hill to get us from the cycle way to the reservoir.

Once at the reservoir you can enjoy a picnic lunch or get lunch from the café. There will also be the chance to cycle around the reservoir, if you wish, a further 11km (7 miles). You could even go round twice!

We’ll then cycle back the way we came.

We’ll be going at a gentle pace, about 10mph. This is a social ride so we’ll be chatting along that way and maybe stopping to enjoy the view.

We’ll meet at 10am in Little Bowden Recreation Ground, on the footpath by the allotments, not on The Square.

There are a couple of tunnels to negotiate along the way so bring a front light with you. The nature of the cycle path means that it’s not ideal for narrow tyres.

We will hopefully be accompanied by a group of non-WVCC members on a British Cycling “guided ride” so if you would like to invite friends or family (who aren’t WVCC members) to join you, they can sign up here: https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/expedition-to-pitsford-reservoir
