Also known as the “Worlds slowest club run” Whizz Kids have ridden the Market Harborough carnival procession for many years but due to Covid-19 in 2021 and 2020, and torrential rain forcing the late cancellation in 2019 it’s been four years since we have taken part, longer than some Whizz Kids have been around. We would like as many riders as possible to take part to show off the club this Saturday for a very steady hour long, 2 mile ride around the town. The roads will be closed to traffic so it’s a great chance to ride in front of large crowds on the streets of Market Harborough, perhaps a taste of what it’s like to finish a major race in years to come. Parents and Senior club members are welcome to ride with us and even the youngest riders will be slow enough for parents to walk alongside.
It’s an earlier start than normal as we’ll be meeting on Burnmill Road (the road up to Robert Smythe School) between 10:45 and 11:00am on Saturday morning ready for the parade to start spot on 11:30. All being well we’ll finish about an hour later and our rendezvous point is outside of St Mary’s chippy on St Marys Road (opposite the entrance to Symingtons rec). I’m not sure whereabouts in the procession we will be, but I’ll be there early as usual and holding our space so just keep a lookout for me. Finally there is no traffic allowed onto Burnmill road for safety reasons so you’ll need to park up and walk to the start, and away from the finish, or ride from home whichever is best.
See you on Saturday morning!
