100km Gravel Ride – Good Friday 15th April

Calling all hipsters yet again!

On Good Friday (15 April) we are organising a 100k off-road ride for members and friends from other local clubs. The route is on gravel, less-travelled tarmac and cycle paths. The route takes in the more rideable sections of the Grand Union canal towpath and much of the River Soar on a traffic free route through many of the riverside parks in Leicester. There is a brief visit to the cobbles of  Castle View (used in the Leicester castle Classic race) before  leaving Leicester via the Great Central railway cycle path and rejoining the canal before heading back via the intermittent gravel and tarmac of the Via Devana roman road (now known as the Gartree Road) . The route will also be suitable for non-hipsters on cyclocross bikes or MTBs.

See link to the planned route below (clockwise):

We plan to meet at 8am on the green in Great Bowden. Some form of puncture protection is recommended for our off-road rides such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self-sealing inner tubes.

Please let us know if you’re coming so we can organise ride groups by bike type and speed.

To be added to our off-road WhatsApp group please message Adrian Killworth or email your mobile number to offroad@wellandvalleycc.co.uk
