The ‘Mr John’ Ellis Trophy

This year Welland Valley CC will be dedicating a new trophy in memory on ‘Mr John’ Ellis.

John Ellis was a much respected and revered bike rider, a stalwart of the Chain Gang, and achieved ‘second category’ status in the 1990’s, and again in 2014, also winning the Club’s Livesley Road Racing Shield.  His passing in August 2019 whilst riding his bike was devastating for his family and his many friends in the wider cycling community.

The ‘Mr John’ Ellis Trophy will be awarded on an annual basis by the Club Committee to recognise the outstanding road racer of the year.  It will be funded by donation along with a contribution from Club funds.
