Lutterworth cyclists in a spin over big charity event

Following the success of the event in 2020 just before Lockdown, Lutterworth Rotary Club’s Big Indoor Bike Ride is back and returning to Lutterworth Sports Centre on Sunday, 27 February.

As well as being a chance for local people to get fit, the Big Indoor Bike Ride also raises money for deserving charities, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and other key causes currently supported by the Rotary Club.

We will be running 4 one-hour ‘spin class’  sessions, with the first pedal being turned on the stationary ‘Keiser’ exercise bikes at 10am and the day finishing at 2pm. The event is being held in the main hall to offer more space, air and ventilation for a maximum of 30 riders per hour. If you want to bring your turbo trainer or rollers you are very welcome. The bike training strategy will be HIIT.

Each of the sessions picks a different route with large maps on the wall giving riders a simulated taster of some of the most famous climbs in the world. Led by Richard Stannard all sessions will have a musical soundtrack to keep the tempo and excitement up choreographed to the mood of the terrain. Music will be the rhythm of the road.

What’s great about this day is people can ride at whatever pace they like, if they don’t want to do interval training, varying the gearing (resistance wheel). It’s a mixed ability event. Stick to a tempo you’re comfortable with or which challenges you, and the atmosphere in the studio will do the rest to get you over the line.

The entry charge is £10 per bike per hour. Why not sign on for two or more hours for a great training session? Seats can be booked at the Lutterworth Sports Centre reception (cash only), or online at EntryCentral.com
