Whizz Kids season finale

Good Evening Whizz Kids, we ended the 2021 season this afternoon with a family ride out from Welland Park to Foxton and back via the canal and for most it was a couple of hours away from the frantic pre-Christmas rush and overall a good way to spend a couple of hours. Before setting out Club Chairman Jon Durnin presented Charlie Hardwicke with his trophy for the most points in juvenile circuit racing at Mallory Park this year. Well done Charlie from everyone at Whizz Kids. Also I have to congratulate Charlie and Daniel for illuminating their bikes with lights, the display was better than most lights down my street.
Anyway, the ride. It was an straight out and back to Foxton on the canal and the plan was to turn back wherever we were at 3pm. Unfortunately we lost point man Simon early on to a flat and with Kev riding the Lantern Rouge position we thank Andrew Bailey for taking over the lead. The leading group did manage to get to Foxton bottom lock before heading home. Kev meantime met the returning riders at the swing-bridge and followed the home before also hitting a flat. I wouldn’t mind but it was a slime tube and should have held up. Anyway, long story short we’ve learned some valuable lessons today, especially in the tubes department. Thanks to Simon and Andrew for leading and for Steve and Roz for coming out and giving me a lift home.
There is no Whizz Kids in 2 weeks time and we’ll meet again in 2022. If I don’t see you before I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year!
