Thank you to Michael Burke for this report from the weekend:

On Sunday I travelled to Bridgnorth to contest the West Midlands League hosted by Severn Valley held on a Motor Cross Circuit which was what turned out to be quite brilliant but challenging.

In lovely conditions the race started at 2:30pm in glorious sunshine. I was gridded on the second row and after the starting whistle managed to get away ok but not cleanly enough to avoid traffic in the first few corners.

It took the first lap to clear and really start pressing on. Soon after I found myself in a small group with fellow WVCC rider Jim Vernon and another rider John McAllister. We were all pressing hard with each other however just over half way into the race I lost Jim on the off camber section and was never able to pull it back. Both riders were able to put time into me and pull away with me continuing to press on, I could just never pull both them back as the race went on.

Coming to the finish I was able to manage 6th Senior/11th O/A with Jim finishing just ahead in 3rd Junior/10th O/A.

Denis Smith finished 8th in the Veterans race earlier in the day.

A really good day for WVCC.
