FNSS Round 5 and Final League Standings

Friday saw the culmination of the 30th year of the Friday Night Summer Series MTB races. Round 5 of the shortened series was held at Wibtoft after the planned venue of Milton Keynes Bowl fell through.

The riders flew around the edges of fields with a jungle feel due to the 3m tall bamboo like elephant grass crop (grown as a perennial and used as a renewable biomass fuel for generating electricity  and harvested in early spring),  with a couple of tight technical wooded sections and a couple of tricky banks to negotiate. It was a very different course to last week as there were no real climbs, so it was a full on effort from the start on the gently rolling course with very little recovery in the short wooded sections – a course for the diesels!
