The 2021 Mallory Youth League drew to a close on Tuesday evening, after a busy summer of racing that saw the Whizz Kids proudly sporting their yellow jerseys on a weekly basis.

Consisting of thirteen rounds, the league is contested over the mile long Mallory Park circuit, which can be blustery on a good day, and what feels like hurricane level winds on a bad one! Needless to say, we have witnessed some brave and committed riding from every Whizz Kid that attended, whether they managed one race or all 13!

Anyone who has raced (or even ridden steadily) around Mallory will know that it’s tough going, and it’s been a pleasure to watch all the riders improve on a weekly basis, as they all got stronger, and their race craft improved.

Round 13 saw Charlie Hardwicke 3rd, George Bailey 5th and Daniel Hardwicke 6th in the under 8 race, Jacob Smith 5th in the Under 10 race and Jamie Kershaw 9th in the extremely tough under 14 competition.

The best news is that the Welland Valley Whizz Kids have finished up the season in third place overall in the league competition, which is an incredible achievement considering that the league is contested by over 40 different clubs.

On the 7th September, the riders will return to Mallory for the final race of the season followed by the annual presentation evening.

Well done to everyone who raced and a huge thank you to the Whizz Kids parents who stepped up and volunteered to marshal repeatedly!

Individual league standings for 2021 were:

Under 8 Boys:

Charlie Hardwicke – 2nd

George Bailey – 3rd

Daniel Hardwicke – 6th

Under 10 Boys – Jacob Smith 4th
