Kibworth 10 06/07 Race Report.

Thanks to new member (this season) Doug Tincello for this week’s race report.

Kibworth 10 time trial round 9
It was a blustery day with strong winds from the south west and the threat of rain as we gathered for round 9 of the club TT championships. As this is my first year in the club, and only the second time I would be tackling the kibworth course I was hoping to better my inaugural time of 24:33. However,  Harborough District Council obviously had other plans, because they decided to resurface the bypass only four days before the race. So that, the wind and the fact I had already done a zwift workout that afternoon meant that I should use the race as an opportunity to focus on pacing my effort, rather than making a futile attempt at a PB.
Once again there was a good turnout at the sign on, with the crowd of usual faces plus some newcomers.  One of the things I enjoy most about WVCC is the friendliness of the members, and a genuine interest and willingness to help others get the most out of their riding.  I had tweaked my riding position thanks to advice from Phil R and managed to ride a controlled effort and hold the power and position on the gradients so I felt I had made a good effort despite finishing in 25:29.
I have been cycling for well over 25 years, but have never been a member of a cycling club, nor have I raced before. I thoroughly enjoy being out on the road and also on the track at Derby Velodrome, and love fiddling with new kit and gadgets. My forays into timetrialling this year are a whole new dimension to my riding which I’m really enjoying, and bizarrely for a little chap, I seem to be reasonably quick too.  The challenges of position and technique have re-engergised my enthusiasm for the bike all over again. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series, and nurse the ambition to go sub 23 minutes over 10 miles at some point soon….

RESULTS: Close at the top this this time with 13 seconds separating the top 3 placings and a brilliant ride from the fast improving Dom Switzer 👏
