Off-Road 100 Miler on 5 June

Last year a few of us set ourselves a challenge of a hundred mile off-road ride. As Mountain Mayhem was cancelled we thought we’d do something epic on the same day. It was a tough day with  around 9 hours of riding – some which was enjoyed at the time and some in (outside) the pub some time later! Following the ride’s success we’re doing it again.

The ride will start from Great Bowden – What3Words ///fenced.calls.hypnotist – at 6.30am on Saturday 5 June. See link to the draft route below (clockwise)  –

The route heads North East at first descending through the flower meadow above Stockerston and then takes in the bridleway above Eyebrook and heads through the viaduct at Harringworth before skirting around Spanhoe Aifield and through Wakerley and Fineshades Woods. It then sweeps south on sections of the Nene Way to Thrapston – for refuelling – and Irthlingborough before turning north on the disused railway line following the Nene to Islip and then further north to Lyveden New Bield. It then heads West to Brigstock and follows Geddington Chase to skirt north of Kettering before the run in through Rushston, Pipewell and Wibarston before the final sting in the tail over 5 Ways hill.

This is an unsupported club ride, so you will need to carry plenty of spares and have a plan for rescue if needed. As ever for off-road rides we recommend some form of puncture protection such as tubeless tyres with sealant or self sealing inner tubes.

Please let us know if you’re coming -ideally via our WhatsApp group – so we can organise ride groups by bike type and speed.
