Good afternoon Whizz Kids, there’s a couple of things to tell you about today.
Firstly we held our first Sunday Supplement session this morning at Bruntingthorpe and we were blessed by a glorious sunny Sunday morning. With 21 Whizz Kids booked in we used the Go-Kart track for a series of shortish races. Although the track started wet from overnight rain the moderate breeze (massive understatement) and warm sun soon dried out the track for some furious racing. While I was completing the course inspection our assembled riders had chosen to ride anticlockwise meaning a block headwind into the finish. Coupled with a slight ride some of the single speeders found this challenging to say the least with one rider appearing to lie on the grass and fall asleep immediately after crossing the the finish line. All riders got three races in during the session, the last one being run the reverse direction meaning the headwind was still an issue for the other half the course.
Thanks today to Simon and Ian for coaching the riders and to Cox Automotive for their support for the event.
The second topic is the follow on from the announcement last night on the next national Covid-19 lockdown. We as a club are waiting for some additional clarification from the government and British Cycling but based on the announcement it looks likely that today’s event will be the last for a while, and we have to be realistic that this may mean we are unable to resume until next year. All I can say is please keep checking here and other club communication channels for more news and announcements as we go through this.
Stay Safe everyone, we’ll catch up soon.
