Whizz Kids returned to Welland Park on Saturday for our latest skills session which concentrated on the core skills of cornering , balance, braking and observation. We welcomed a number of new Whizz Kids to the session and we worked in two groups. The multi-speeders worked on three zones and covered the skills plus some off and on bike on the bank before linking all the sections together for a blast race. With the official conditions described as “Soft” the younger single speeders stayed on the tarmac to save the legs but still worked in slalom, riding the lines and braking into a stop box before the group went on the tour de rose garden but keeping an eye out for the traffic lights which popped up unexpectedly. Just to say that most riders came away without points on the licence!
Massive thanks today to Ian, Ben, Jade and Mia for helping out and to the parents who supported and encouraged the riders during the afternoon.
Just one final note, former Whizz Kid Ed Hopkins has been selected for the Great Britain Cycling Team Apprentice scheme and will be working closely with the best riders and coaches for the next year.
We’ll see you soon!
